Problem With Paint

Alright so this isn't quite my car, it's actually my girlfriends car but being the boyfriend I am I'm helping her with. We Both Love the car and all but we have a fairly big problem.

We've only had the car 6 months and the paint is already messed up. The Kick panels on the back just before the rear tires are fading and rusting. There are also some rock chips on the hood that go right down to the bare metal and those are rusting as well. We went into West End Mitsubishi and talked to the service manger today and apparently this isn't covered under the warrenty for the paint.

Now I'm just wondering does anyone else have this problem?
